Top 10 Tuesday – Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017

So, since its the new year I decided to start partaking in Top 10 Tuesday which is created by Brooke over on The Brooke and the Bookish, I’ve seen it around on loads of blogs and they are some of my favourite posts to read so I thought this year I would join in!!

Below are 10 new to me authors that I read & loved last year! πŸ™‚

1) Sabba Tahir

I read the first two books in the ember in the ashes series (and have pre-orded the third), I absolutely loved the first book in the series, the second book not so much but I’m holding hope for the third one to be as good as the first! πŸ™‚

2) Victoria Schwab

I’m sort of embraced to admit this one, I was quite late getting onto the Schwab band-waggon but I haven’t been disappointed with a single book I have read by the queen yet, I’ve read the monsters of verity series and the gathering of shadows series and they are of course in my top 2017 reads! I hope to pick up vicious this year πŸ™‚

3) Kasie West

This woman has fast become an auto-buy author for me, I read 4 books of hers this year, I think my favourite is either By Your Side orrrrrrr On The Fence, I highly recommend any book by Kasie West if you’re a fan of fluffy ya contemporary as I haven’t been disappointed by her yet!!Β 😍😍

4) Becky Albertalli

I read two books by Becky this month and Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda has made it into my top 5 books of 2017, I’ve currently leant it to one of my best friends as I’m determined she will love it as much as me, I can’t wait for Love, Simon to come out in the cinema and I’ve already pre ordered Leah on the OffbeatΒ 💖💖

5) Sally Thorne

The Hating Game made it to the top spot of my favourite book of 2017, this book blew my mind and I loved it, I have a review somewhere on Goodreads but it’s mostly me babbling about how amazing Josh is and how lovely Lucy is, this book just made me so happy and I’m so excited for when Sally’s other book comes out later this year.

6) Marie Lu

I know!!! I KNOW!!! I’m so behind on reading amazing author’s work, I read Wacross which is absolutely loved and I read the young elites which sadly I didn’t enjoy as much as I thought I would, I do have the other two books in the series sitting on my shelf to read and I have Batman:Nightwalker pre-orded which I am super excited for as I really enjoyed Wonder Woman! πŸ™‚

7) Rainbow Rowell

But seriously, I love Rainbow Rowell’s writing and the characters she created are just amazing and I am so ready to read Carry On (time to bump it up on the tbr soon I’m sure!!!).

8) Alwyn Hamilton

Rebel of the Sands was another book that made it into my top 5, I friggin loved this book. I’m so ready for book two which came in the post a few weeks ago, as for the third book (hero at the fall???) I am so tempted to preorder so I can read book 2 & 3 together so I don’t have to waitΒ 🤣🤣

9) Mackenzie Lee

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue was the last book I read in 2017 and was amazing, it was so funny and I loved Percy, Monty and Felicity and I’m crazily excited for the second book in the series, especially as it’s going to be from Felicity’s point of view which is my favourite character, girl power!!!Β 👯👯

10) Kerri Maniscalco

Thank you for giving me another book boyfriend to add to my already stupidly long list! I loved this book so much, it was amazing and full of all the good things such as murder, handsome men and feminism!! I got Hunting Prince Dracula for Christmas and I can’t wait to finally getting around to reading it. 😁😁

***I just want to say it’s so weird that we are in 2018 I can’t wait for it, I’ve already turned about 5 7’s into 8’s while at work as I keep writing 2017***

I’d love to see in the comments what new authors you’ve read last year! πŸ™‚

  1. My favorite new authors were David Grann and Ron Chernow, since they re-introduced me to great non-fiction! I really want to read V.E. Schwab this year. I’ve had her series on my TBR forever and I only see glowing reviews of it!

  2. I am still kind of on a break but decided I need to poke my head back in the blogging world and see what’s happening. Happy 2018!!

  3. Marie Lu, Marie Lu, Marie Lu!
Oh, and Sarah J. Maas because I’m the worst person ever and hadn’t read anything by her before 2017?

So many of the authors on your list are still on my TBR though. Especially looking forward to Schwab’s books!
I read The Gentleman’s Guide but Monty got on my nerves sooo much that I simply enjoyed it a ton less. Still going to grab a copy of the sequel though! I need Felicity’s story!

    1. You haven’t read anything by Mass!?!?!? You are in for a treat!!
Ah, Schwab’s writing is wonderful and I can’t wait for the next book in TGG because I love Felicity! πŸ™‚
