Some of the most intimidating books

So I thought i’d do a little list of some books that I would like to really but the size of them scares the hell out of me.
I’m sure it would take me years to finish some of them.
Then there are ones that are so well loved i’m worried I won’t love them half as much as some people do!

Game of Thrones series by George R. R. Martin.

This one is for two reasons. One because the hype surrounding the book and the tv show is ridiculous. I got only to series 3 with the TV show and fell behind and I just haven’t been bothered to carry on! I will eventually i’m sure. Then of course there is the fact that it is 848 pages!!! I try to read 50 pages a day depending on how busy I am, this book would take me over 2 weeks to finish. CRAAAAZZZZY!!

IT By Stephen King

I have never read a book by Stephen King.
There I said it, come at me with your pitchforks if you gotta.
I have watched this feel and it scared the hell out of me so the idea of reading a 1116 page book while being scared for most of it doesn’t sound that appealing. Maybe one day, who knows?

The Lord of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

I have read the movies and absolutley loved both LOTR and the Hobbit. The books I don’t think I even have on my TBR on good reads. I’m not sure if I will ever read them. I mean its 1216 pages which is a ridiculous amount and i’m not sure how I feel about it? Will the writing draw me in? Will I just be comparing it to the film? Ugh, this is a difficult one.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I do intend to eventually pick this one up. It’s another whopper being 850 pages. The hype is strong with this one, I think nearly everyone who has read it has loved it – same going for the TV show. I do intend to read this one next year (lol yeah sure i will…..).

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

This book I actually intend to read soon. Woo!
It’s only 541 pages which compared to some of these books on this list. It’s not the size that scares me on this one it’s the fact it’s Brandon Sanderson!!! I mean I feel like everybody loves a book that he has wrote so i’m really hoping I enjoy them.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

522 Pages which is nowhere near big compares to the others. But I have heard SUCH GOOD THINGS.
I don’t think I have spoken to anybody who didn’t have good things to say about this and the goodreads overall rating of 4.36 stars proves that.

The Diviners by Libba Bray

I have heard good and bad things about Libba Bray but I have heard great things about The Diviners series and I just want to read it and love it and give it 5 stars soooooo bad.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin

I am scared to read this for 3 reasons.

1) Its Jane Austin.
2) It’s such a high rates classic
3) I’m actually not sure if I would like it, the writing and stuff I think i’d find so hard to read 🙁

I’d love to heard what books you think are intimidating and if you agree with any of the ones i’ve listed above? 🙂

The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

Doing tag’s is really growing on my recently, I think they’re quite fun to do and some of my favourite posts on blogs to read! 🙂

So let’s get into it!!

1) a popular book or book series that you didn’t like

i’m going to go with the red queen series. although i enjoyed the last book the first two were not good and the main character is absolutely awful.

2) a popular book or book series that everyone else seems to hate but you love

i’m going to go with twilight, although i haven’t read it for a long time (and i don’t intend to), when i did read it for the first time i absolutely adored this series, it was some of my favourite books at the time.

3) an otp that you don’t like

this was eaaaasy. and that is of course the grisha series. im sorry to those that do like who ended up with who but i did not want mal and alina to end up together, not one bit. maybe in the first book i liked the idea of them together but by the end i didn’t want them together 🙁

4) a popular book genre that you hardly reach for

i’m gonna go with horror, just because being scared while reading a book isn’t my sort of thing. thrillers i can deal with but full on horror?? no thank youuuu.

5) a popular/beloved character that you do not like

hmmm. probably gale from hunger games. i just thought he was a plain, boring character. to be honest, i forgot what he really did in the books so he must have been boring xD

6) a popular author that you can’t seem to get into

this is really difficult!!! i’d probably say julie kagawa. i tried her iron fey series and i didn’t like them one bittttt. its sort of put me off reading some of her other stuff a little too.

7) a popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing

love triangles! mostly just because its very unrealistic – i just about have one guy who loves me! xD
that and i get really annoyed and salty if she mc doesn’t get with my favourite guy out of the two! :’)

8) a popular series that you have no interest in reading

to be honest, i don’t think there is one! 🙁

9) the saying goes “the book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or tv show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

I loved the tv series for 13 reasons why much better than the book! 🙂

consider yourself tagged if you are reading this!!
i can’t wait to see your answers 🙂
do you agree with any of the ones i listed? 🙂

Favourite Bromances

I looooove a good bromance in a book!
So below are five of my favourite bromances 😀

   Kell Maresh & Rhy Maresh

I feel like this is pretty self explanatory but Kell and Maresh are brothers, maybe not by blood but they are in every sense of the word.

Will Herondale & Jem Carstairs

Not only are they top level bromance but they are also parabati which goes so much further! I absolutely love the two of them! ???

Harry Potter & Ron Weasley

These are next level bromance, I love the two of them together and Deathly Hallows nearly broke me when the two of them fell out.
Thankfully, it all worked out in the end! ??

Kaz Brekker & Jesper Fahey

Jesper and Kaz are complete opposites but I think that’s what makes them so special. Kaz is always trying to get Jesper on the right path and Jesper is the one trying to lightenn the mood, its obvious that Kaz looks after Jesper and that Jesper looks up to Kaz. YAY FOR BROMANCE ??

The Raven Boys

Can I really do one of these without mention the precious cinnamon rolls that are Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah.
I adore these boys with all my heart and there friendship it just so perfect and special. ??

Who are your favourite bromances?
I’d love to see in the comments!!!

Things about being a bookworm I hate

I am having a very bad day today in general so I thought today it would be fun to talk about the things I reaaaaally hate about being a bookworm.
I’m sure many of you will agree! 😀

1) Different sized books.

Okay, so i’m not one of these people who order there bookcase in rainbow or by author or anything, the only thing I do is put series together, my biggest pet peeve is when it’s a trilogy and the two are the same and the last one is a complete different size!! It looks so weird next to each other and infuriates me so much 🙁

woops, okay. i’m calm, sorta. maybe?

2) Sequels.

the main problems i have with second books in a series is that they sometimes tend to fall into second book syndrome in which they are just nowhere near as fun and as exciting as the first book.

THEN. yes there’s more.

Then there are times when the second book shouldn’t even exists, there are some books that should just be a stand alone.

3) Waiting for books.

I hate waiting for my books to be delivered.
I hate waiting for them to come in paperback because i’m not rich and can afford hardback for everything.
I hate , hate, hate, hate waiting for the next book in the series with a passion.

4) Spoilers.

simple right?
apparently not.
The amount of time I have been scrolling down goodreads and someone hasn’t hidden a spoiler or wrote that there are spoilers ahead and i’ve had a book ruined for me, it always makes me not want to read that book because you already know what’s going to happen 🙁

5) A book slump.

This is probably the thing I hate the most about being a bookworm.
Why does such a thing exist?

So yep, there you have it – some of the things that annoy me.

Do you relate to any of these?
Is there any that aren’t on here that you have, i’d love to see down below in the comments! 🙂

The Goodreads Book Tag

Another tag!
What can I say, I really enjoy doing them 🙂

I haven’t been tagged to do this, it was one I saw that I liked the look of – and i’m goodreads obsessed so Y’NO! Couldn’t resists!

1.) what was the last book you marked as “read”?

Wonder by R.J Palacio, I gave it 5 stars – it was such a beautiful heartwarming book and I highly recommend it to everyone!

2.) what was the last book you marked as “tbr”?

The Duet by R.S Grey. I have never read a book by her before and i’ve been looking for some more NA to read and I was recommend any books by R.S Grey so I thought i’d give it a go 🙂

3.) what book do you plan to read next?

I’ll give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson – i’ve had this on my bookcase since 2015, it’s one of the books i’ve had the longest and I think it’s time I read it!!

4.) do you use the star rating system?
I do, my only pet peeve which this is there is no half star option, come on goodreads in 2017 what you waiting for?

5.) are you doing the 2017 reading challenge?

6.) do you have a wishlist?

Maybe, Sorta?
I mean I add book to my tbr that I want to read so I guess that’s a wishlist?

7.) which book do you plan on buying next?

I plan on buying three, treat myself you know.
(even tho i’m on a book buying ban)
I plan to buy We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson, An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson and Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling.

8.) do you have any favorite quotes?
Not reaaaallllyyy, I mean if I find one I like in a book i’  ll use it in my review.
Most of my favourite quotes are from Harry Potter anyway.

9.) who are your favorite authors?

John Green, Sarah J Mass, Leigh Bardugo, V.E Schwab, Kasie West – I think they are my top ones, and the ones I have read the most from 🙂

10.) have you joined any groups?

Nope, they aren’t really my thing 🙁

If you liked this tag and want to do it, consider yourself tagged! 😀

YA Life vs Real Life

We’ve all done it, we’ve been reading books and scratching our head because we all know that life is no way like that :):)

Here are just a few examples that I’ve found that no doubt we can all relate too!

Now, I don’t know about you but the boy’s in my school were all idiots and I couldn’t even bare to thing about spending the rest of my life with them??
However, in a YA book there is a 80% chance that they find there soulmate when they are 16/17!!!
In real life, that really doesn’t happen very often at all, if ever.

If you’re a girl like me, you will understand that once a month we get them. However, I could be three books into a series and the girl has not once had a period, suffered from stomach cakes, ate the pain away?
I only WISH real life was like that!!!

Sorry, but when I was sixteen/seventeen puberty was not my friend and I was in no way some gorgeous goddess that could run a thousand miles without getting tired or a hair coming out of place. You will be a genius getting great grades, you have perfect teeth and you’re a size 8.
I was not like that what so ever, I always feel like it’s always a bit fake when I read a YA contemporary, like really? Is anyone like that 🙁

4. FOOD.

This is mostly in some fantasy books I’ve read, they can go weeks without the mentioning of food and I’m just there like!?!?!?!?
I can’t go a few hours without thinking about food and then eating about food.

You’re parents totally don’t mind you disappearing for weeks at a time? Oh not, they are totally cool with that.
You may even possibly find out that you aren’t who you were supposed to be and you are half with, fairy, vampire, demon.

I can assure you real life isn’t like that and I get a text on my mom every day xD

Hygiene, what’s that?
A shower? I don’t think so.
A toothbrush, what’s that?

Basically, YA life is very unrealistic but totally fun to read about!

Is there any that I’ve missed off?
I’d love to see about them in the comments! 🙂

Wonder Woman Book Tag

Yep, it’s tag time! 🙂
I’ve seen this tag around a while now, it’s pretty old but it looked like fun so I thought, why not?!

1. Wonder Woman: Your favorite badass female book character

Mia Corvere – Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.
I mean come on?
You wouldn’t mess with her, and you would definitely run away if you saw her in a dark alleyway.
Or I would anyway :’)

2. Fantasy Island: A book setting you want to escape to

Hogwarts – Harry Potter by J K Rowling.
Come on, don’t deny it, we all want to go to Hogwarts – me especially.
I’m still convinced my letter got lost in the post and the life i’ve been living has been a lie all this time.

3. London: A hyped book that let you down

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.
Just no, we didn’t get along.
The amount of five stars reviews it has on GR from my friends and other people did shock me, I just wasn’t that keen on the book, the only good thing about this was Warner.

4. Steve Trevor: A book that has a beautiful cover and a great story (i.e. great personality)

A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard
and i adored the actual book too, yay!

5. Lasso of Truth: A book you hated

The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen.

6. Wonder Woman’s Shield: A book so sad you need a shield

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.
It broke me 🙁

7. No Man’s Land: A book that you want to send through No Man’s Land (i.e. shoot it to death)

See number 5 and it would be that book!!!!!

8. Ares: A villian that is scary, but you can’t seem to hate

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo.
I just love The Darkling even though i’m supposed to hate him!

9. Dr. Poison: A villian that has no reason to exist.

I have no idea, none. 🙁

10. The Amazons: A book that you wish had more/better LGBT+ representation

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
I’d have loved to have seen some LGBT+ in this series!

11. Justice League: What superhero book friends do you tag?

Since I didn’t get tagged, if you want to do it go for it! 🙂
