YA Life vs Real Life

We’ve all done it, we’ve been reading books and scratching our head because we all know that life is no way like that :):)

Here are just a few examples that I’ve found that no doubt we can all relate too!

1.  YOU FIND YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE IN HIGHSCHOOL

Now, I don’t know about you but the boy’s in my school were all idiots and I couldn’t even bare to thing about spending the rest of my life with them??
However, in a YA book there is a 80% chance that they find there soulmate when they are 16/17!!!
In real life, that really doesn’t happen very often at all, if ever.

2. PERIODS…

If you’re a girl like me, you will understand that once a month we get them. However, I could be three books into a series and the girl has not once had a period, suffered from stomach cakes, ate the pain away?
I only WISH real life was like that!!!

3. YOU WILL BE GORGEOUS AND AMAZING AT EVERYTHING & AS WILL YOUR OTHER HALF

URM NOPE.
Sorry, but when I was sixteen/seventeen puberty was not my friend and I was in no way some gorgeous goddess that could run a thousand miles without getting tired or a hair coming out of place. You will be a genius getting great grades, you have perfect teeth and you’re a size 8.
I was not like that what so ever, I always feel like it’s always a bit fake when I read a YA contemporary, like really? Is anyone like that 🙁

4. FOOD.

This is mostly in some fantasy books I’ve read, they can go weeks without the mentioning of food and I’m just there like!?!?!?!?
WUT??
I can’t go a few hours without thinking about food and then eating about food.

5. FAMILY.

You’re parents totally don’t mind you disappearing for weeks at a time? Oh not, they are totally cool with that.
You may even possibly find out that you aren’t who you were supposed to be and you are half with, fairy, vampire, demon.

I can assure you real life isn’t like that and I get a text on my mom every day xD

6. HYGIENE

Hygiene, what’s that?
A shower? I don’t think so.
ALSO.
WHY DOES NOBODY EVER NEED TO PEE?
NOBODY HAS BLADDERS LIKE THAT.
A toothbrush, what’s that?

Basically, YA life is very unrealistic but totally fun to read about!

Is there any that I’ve missed off?
I’d love to see about them in the comments! 🙂

Wonder Woman Book Tag

Yep, it’s tag time! 🙂
I’ve seen this tag around a while now, it’s pretty old but it looked like fun so I thought, why not?!

1. Wonder Woman: Your favorite badass female book character

Mia Corvere – Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.
I mean come on?
You wouldn’t mess with her, and you would definitely run away if you saw her in a dark alleyway.
Or I would anyway :’)

2. Fantasy Island: A book setting you want to escape to

Hogwarts – Harry Potter by J K Rowling.
Come on, don’t deny it, we all want to go to Hogwarts – me especially.
I’m still convinced my letter got lost in the post and the life i’ve been living has been a lie all this time.

3. London: A hyped book that let you down

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.
THIS BOOK.
Just no, we didn’t get along.
The amount of five stars reviews it has on GR from my friends and other people did shock me, I just wasn’t that keen on the book, the only good thing about this was Warner.

4. Steve Trevor: A book that has a beautiful cover and a great story (i.e. great personality)

A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard
YES, SO BEAUTIFUL AND PINK AND LOVELY.
and i adored the actual book too, yay!

5. Lasso of Truth: A book you hated

The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen.
JUST NOPE. NO. NO NO.

6. Wonder Woman’s Shield: A book so sad you need a shield

Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.
It broke me 🙁

7. No Man’s Land: A book that you want to send through No Man’s Land (i.e. shoot it to death)

See number 5 and it would be that book!!!!!

8. Ares: A villian that is scary, but you can’t seem to hate

Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo.
I just love The Darkling even though i’m supposed to hate him!

9. Dr. Poison: A villian that has no reason to exist.

I have no idea, none. 🙁

10. The Amazons: A book that you wish had more/better LGBT+ representation

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
I’d have loved to have seen some LGBT+ in this series!

11. Justice League: What superhero book friends do you tag?

Since I didn’t get tagged, if you want to do it go for it! 🙂

Books I can’t wait for – 2018 edition

hi guys!
i thought today i’d do a little post on the books i really can’t wait for in 2017!
there are quite a few of them and most of them are part of a series i have that i’ve been dying for the next ones!!!

I have such high hopes for this book! i loved the first one, not that keen on the second one but i think i’m going to like this. its a shame that the cover doesn’t match the other two though 🙁

After reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer not long ago I am so excited to get my hands on this, I love Marie Lu and I know she’s going to be great at bringing Bruce Wayne to life.

THIS LOOKS SO GOOD SKDJHGSKJGHKLSJD1!!!!111
i mean, wow. look at this.
also doesn’t the cover look spooky?
i’ve seen a few reviews on goodreads from people who were lucky enough to get arc’s and they’ve only had good things to say so i can’t wait 🙂

OKAY.
so let’s give some appreciation towards the cover.
and the reason why i’m looking forward to this.
“With sensitivity and openness, this timely novel confronts the difficult questions surrounding consent, victim blaming, and sexual assault”
PLEASE BE DONE WELL AND AMAZINGLY AND BRILLIANT.

Another one with a friggin amazing cover.
Wintersong was good, i think I gave it four stars?
I have high expectations for this book!
please be met, please be good.

have you seen the synopsis for this book?
it sounds so interesting!!!
the only thing that scares me a little is have you seen how many pages it is???
512 pages.
i just hope its 512 pages of greatness.

I JUST LOVE HER RETELLING’S, GIVE ME THEM ALLLLLLL!!!!!

i don’t feel like i even need to put an explanation as to why i’m looking forward to this.
surely everyone is by now???

Are you looking forward to any of these books on this list?
What books are you really looking forward to that aren’t on here?

The Book Sacrifice Tag

everyone loves a tag.
well not everyone.
I do tho 😀

1) An Over-Hyped Book: Let’s start this off with a Zombie Apocalypse! Let’s say you’re in a book store, just browsing, when BAM! ZOMBIE ATTACK. An announcement comes over the PA System saying that the military has discovered that the zombies’ only weakness is over-hyped books. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you really hated so you start chucking at the zombies knowing that it will count as an over-hyped book and successfully wipe them out?!

HMM.
okkkkkaaayyyy.
the queen of the tearling books
any of them really but probably the last one. they are all raved about and had really good reviews and I didn’t like them, not for me. nope.

2) A Sequel: Let’s say you’ve just left the salon with a SMASHING new haircut and BOOM: Torrential downpour. What sequel are you willing to use as an umbrella to protect yourself?

I’d grab Pretties by Scott Westerfeld, the first book in the series was great then it all went downhill 🙁

3) A Classic: Let’s say you’re in a lecture and your English teacher is going on and on about how this classic changed the world, how it revolutionized literature and you get so sick of it that you chuck the classic right at his face because you know what? This classic is stupid and it’s worth detention just to show everyone how you feel! What Classic did you chuck?

Probably Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, it just wasn’t for me, super boring when I first read it for English back at school and haven’t had any desire to ever pick it up again.

4) Your Least Favourite Book of Life!: Let’s say that you’re hanging out at the library when BAM global warming explodes and the world outside becomes a frozen wasteland. You’re trapped and your only chance for survival is to burn a book. What is the book you first run to, your least favourite book of all life, what book do you not fully regret lighting?

Silence is Goldfish by Annabel Pitcher, it was weird and the MC was so annoying and it was a waste of time reading it 🙁

Feel free to do this tag if you want, I’d love to read your answers.
Do you agree with any of mine? 😀

Series I want to start but I haven’t because I suck…..

YEP.
We have all done this, come onnn.
There are loads of series that I REALLY want to start but I just haven’t gotten around to doing it yet 🙁
Some of these books I own and some I don’t but here are the five series that I haven’t started yet but really want too! 😀

1. Pivot Point  series by Kaisie West
I HAVE THIS BOOK.
AND THE SECOND BOOK.
WHY HAVEN’T I READ IT YET?
because i suck that’s why.

2. To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han.
yeah, i’m one of these rare aliens that have never read this series.
confession, i also don’t own them.
but I really want tooo!!!
I’m determined to read the whole series next year
(lol watch me not do that….)

3. Rebel of the Sands series by Alwyn Hamilton.
soooo another one i own but haven’t read yet.
why haven’t I read it.
I HAVE NO IDEA.
I intend to read it before the year is up tho!

4. The Remnant Chronicles series by Mary E Pearson.
I WANNA READ THIS SO BADLY.
like so bad, and so many of my friends on gr think so highly of it and i just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet 🙁

5. Captive Prince series by C.S Pacat
this whole series has such good reviews and i just wanna get my hands on it and read it so bad 🙁
fingers crossed i can get this read next year! 🙂

Have you read any of these series?
If so I’d love to see what you think of them 😀

Totally Should Have – Book Tag

Hi guy’s!
Today i’m going to do the “Totally Should Have Tag”, feel free to do it if you want too! 😀

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE GOTTEN A SEQUEL:

That is so difficult! I don’t think I can choose just one so i’m going to say The Hating Game & Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda because they are my favourite books of the year and i’d love to see how there relationships turn out.❤️❤️❤️

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE GOTTEN A SPIN-OFF SERIES:

The Lunar Chronicles 10000000%, i’d love Cress and Thorne to have there own little spin off series, so many people would read it *hint hint* ?

AN AUTHOR THAT TOTALLY SHOULD WRITE MORE BOOKS:

Karen M McManus, the author of One of Us Is Lying, I loved the book and would to see more of her work.

A CHARACTER THAT TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE:

to be honest i don’t think i have any issues for this one?
i think everyone i wanted to end up with ended up with said person 🙂

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ENDED DIFFERENTLY:
The Fate of the Tearling, i really really hated the ending of this book, i was so disappointed with how it turned out 🙁

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A MOVIE FRANCHISE:
i’d love to see the raven boy’s turned into a movie, imagine how interesting and cool that would be, that and imagine the actors who would play the guys 😉

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A TV SHOW:
ooh urmmmm, that’s a tough one.
i’d probably say either Shatter Me, The Infernal Devices or Throne Of Glass

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD ONLY ONE POINT OF VIEW:
Allegiant, it just got confusing….

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE HAD A COVER CHANGE:
Tower Of Dawn, nope. a blue cover? was not impressed.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE KEPT THE ORIGINAL COVERS:
i can’t really think of one really, apart from maybe when a movie comes out and they change the book cover to the movie one? don’t really like that.

TOTALLY SHOULD’VE STOPPED AT BOOK ONE
sorry, gotta say shatter me.
i love warner don’t get me wrong but that’s pretty much all i like about the book, is it really worth four books?….

Lies We Bookworms Like To Tell Ourselves

Yep.
Don’t deny it, we all tell these little lies to ourselves as some point or another! 🙂
Well, maybe lie is a bit of a strong words?
Deny?
Fib?
Hmm, something like that!!

“JUST ONE MORE CHAPTER”

Come on, we’ve all said it. One more chapter and the next thing you know I’m 237 pages in and I’ve forgotten what I was supposed to do. It happens all the time, one chapter soon turns into six and then you may as well carry on reading now!?

“I DON’T NEED NEW BOOKSHELVES”

This is me right now, I have books overflowing everywhere, do I need a new bookshelf? N(YES)O.

*I need one so badly it’s unreal*

“NO, I’M NOT GOING TO BUY THAT BOOK”

HA!
This is me all the time, I really shouldn’t buy that book because I have over 80 books on my shelf to read!?!?!?!
*hand slips and accidentally orders 17 books*
OH DAMN.
how did that happen?

“NOPE, I DON’T HAVE A CRUSH ON A FICTIONAL CHARACTER”

Chaol Westfall who?
Whoops.
Ladies and Gentleman we all have a crush on a fictional character 😉

“LOOK AT ALL THESE AMAZING BOOKS, I’M TOTALLY NOT GOING TO RE-READ A FAVOURITE”

HAH!
Yeah, I’m totally not going to re-read Harry Potter or A Court of Mist and Fury when I can read all the knew upcoming releases…..

“I AM TOTALLY COPING WITH MY TBR”

Sobs hysterically while under a pile of books.

“I NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER”

I sadly, am the worst at this.
I forever pick up a book based on it’s beautiful cover and then I get it home and read it and it’s absolute trash.
Hey, ‘least it looks good on my bookshelf, right?

“READING IS SO RELAXING”

WAIT
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
ARE THEY DEAD?
OMG THIS CAN’T BE THE END?
I HATE LIFE, WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT A THOUSAND YEARS FOR THE NEXT ONE!?!?!?!11 🙁 🙁
yep, soooo relaxing.

how many of these to you tell yourselves?
are there some not on here that you do?

Hi guys!

I wanted to do a good tag, or at least one that I knew I would enjoy so i’m going to do the 43 bookish questions!

1. What was the last book I read?
The last book I read was Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy.

2. Was it a good one?
Urm, no. Sadly not.

3. What made it good?
Two things, Myers & Schwab

4. Would you recommend it to other people?
Hmm, possibly? Maybe?

Almost every day, there are some day’s where I can’t – those are bad days.

6. Do you like to read?
……
…..
Why yes, I do! ❤️

7. What was the last bad book you read?
See question 1.
Sadly it was the last bad book I read 🙁

8. What made you dislike it?
I didn’t like the writing of some of the authors, some of the stories were just to predictable and boring – or they just weren’t something I wanted to read.

9.  Do you wish to be a writer?
No, not really. I enjoy writing reviews and blogging but I don’t want to be a writer.

There have been many books in total, i’d say the one that had the biggest impact on me this year was The Hate U Give – it opened my eyes to what the world is like.

11.  Do you read fan fiction?
Nope, it’s never been something that appeals to me, but you know what they say. Never say never!

12. Do you write fan fictions?
Nope, that is something that I don’t really have any interest in doing.

13.  What’s your favourite book?
See, this question is difficult.
My favourite book that i’ve read this year of my favourite book of all time?
These questions are difficult! ❌❌
Basing it on being asked my favourite book of all time, I would have to go with Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

14. What’s your least favourite book?
See, now this is just as difficult.
I did attempt to read the first book in the Iron Fey series and I ended up DNFing, it just wasn’t for me at all.

15. Do you prefer physical books or reading on a device?
Now that’s an easy question!
I much prefer a physical book, I like the feel of having one in my hands and being able to put them on a bookcase and have a physical tbr that I can actually see.

When hasn’t it, every time I pick up a book this happens.

Paper Towns by John Green, I just wanted to know what happened to everyone after.

Well, depending on how interested I am in the book and loads of other factors it could take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks!

26.  Do you like when books become movies?

Harry Potter was done brilliantly as was Me Before You but some are done terribly….
